Mind The Gap

Mind the Gap is an initiative by the MDIA, Tech.mt, and the MCA designed to empower e-Commerce businesses in Malta to understand and improve their levels of cybersecurity maturity. It is composed of two schemes: The Cybersecurity Self-Assessment, and the Cybersecurity Improvement Scheme. It complements other initiatives at national level by the National Cybersecurity Co-ordination centre.

DigiNova Camp

The DIGINOVA camp is an engaging and interactive programme that aims to shape the minds of young people and introduce them to the transformative powers of creativity, innovation and emerging digital technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, imparting the skills to become future leaders and changemakers.

Local Communities (Councils) Scheme

The overall objectives of the Innovative Technology in Local Communities scheme are to increase the efficiency of traditional networks and services through the use of digital technologies such as smart technology solutions to solve economic, social and environmental challenges and to support citizen engagement, unlock innovation, and create new business opportunities

Pathfinder Digital Scholarship

The Pathfinder MDIA Digital Scholarship is intended to support postgraduate education in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Information Security to ensure that the Maltese labour market is supplied with individuals having the necessary skills and to guarantee that it is in a better position to compete at an international level. The scheme is aimed to support those pursuing this path to succeed both at the level of education attainment as well as contributing effectively towards the economy.

Digital Connect

The Ministry for the Economy and Industry (MEI) in collaboration with the Ministry for Social Justice and Solidarity, the Family and Children’s Rights (MSFC) and the Malta Digital Innovation Authority (MDIA) launched a pilot project to increase inclusion and digitalization skills. This scheme’s main scope is to improve the citizens’ digital literacy, connectivity, integration of digital technology, and computer skills.

Future Innovators Summer School

It is imperative that the younger generation of society adapt and learn more about Artificial Intelligence, Digital Innovation and Information Technology that is constantly evolving. As a result, MDIA is organizing a Summer School, at MCAST, related to this topic known as the Future Innovators Summer School aimed at teens aged thirteen (13) to fifteen (15) years old.

xPloring Intelligence Bootcamp

MDIA in collaboration with the Faculty of ICT, University of Malta, are providing the following programme for Maltese teenagers: Exploring Intelligence – A Bootcamp on Us and Tech. This boot camp, for preteens aged 11 to 13 years old, focusses on assisting young minds in providing creative abilities in artificial intelligence and digital innovation, which are essential for all career pathways in all sectors.

MDIA COVID-19 Tech Award

The MDIA Award for Innovative Technologies in Response to COVID-19 aimed to encourage innovative ideas to support society during COVID-19.

MAARG - AI Applied Research Grant

The overall objective of this Grant is to support capacity-building efforts related to AI research in Malta. Specifically, this Grant aims to encourage increased capacity for AI-related research in Malta, investment in AI-related R&D activities, adoption of AI technologies by the public and private sectors, and collaboration between academia and commercial entities.
